What you'll be doing?
Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.
While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.
Reporting to the Regional Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the effective management of the Regional Strategic Land portfolio. You will advise and assist the Division in identifying, securing and promoting strategic land opportunities in accordance with the strategic land plan.
You will be expected to:
  • To formulate and implement a Regional Strategic Land Plan in line with the Group expectations.
  • Set and monitor strategic land targets for each Division.
  • Liaise with MDs, Divisional Directors and Strategic Land Managers to drive forward the delivery of strategic land in the Division.
  • Provide strategic guidance to each Division regarding requirements, planning policy, areas of search and legal matters.
  • Identify and cultivate a diverse Regional contact base of agents, landowners, councillors and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the promotion of the strategic land portfolio.
  • Monitor and approve Divisional spend on strategic land.
  • Review/sign off all legal documentation, land authorisation packs and valuation/acquisition packs in line with policies and procedures.
  • Produce Regional Strategic land reports and report to Group as necessary.
  • Ensure best practice is shared between Division and embedded into everyday working practices.
What you'll need?
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
  • Degree in either Town & Country Planning or chartered surveying or similar. Membership of a professional body RTPI, RICS or similar is desirable.
  • At least 5 years experience within housebuilding industry of land acquisition and project promotion.
  • A full understanding of the planning system and planning policy at a local and national level.
  • Comprehensive knowledge or options / hybrid / promotion agreements.
  • A proven track record in delivering strategic land.
  • Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills, a confident and professional networker.
  • Extensive contact base through the Region.
  • Sound geographical knowledge of the Region.
  • Highly motivated individual with a track record of achieving and surpassing targets.
